National Talent Search Examination or NTSE is a national-level scholarship program in India to identify and recognize students with high intellect and academic talent. It is considered as one of the most prestigious exams in India. Over one lakh students appear in this scholarship exam every year and 1,000 scholarships are awarded. Only students of Indian nationality are eligible for NTSE and only students studying in Class 10th are eligible to appear. The exam is organized by NCERT and is considered by the Government of India as the hardest and most prestigious examination at the high school level in the country.
Mental Ability test: 50 questions 50 marks, Language test: 40 questions 40 marks, Scholastic Aptitude test: 100 questions 100 marks (40 questions from Science, 20 questions from Maths and 40 questions from Social Science), SAT: The maths, social science, and science questions will be asked from class 10th syllabus.
The students who qualify second stage are eligible for scholarship. The amount of scholarship is Rs.500/- per month for all the students and starts immediately after the result. The scholarship is expected to increase in the coming years. There are no restrictions or terms like parental income, government schools, domicile, etc., but in case the student plans to go abroad for studies then the payment of scholarships will stop.
