All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) Entrance Exam
The All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) is a yearly college entrance examination. The exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in several medical colleges around the country. 15% of the total seats in all medical and dental colleges run by the Union of India, state governments, municipal, or other local authorities in India, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, are reserved for candidates who pass this examination.
The candidate must have completed 17 years and should not exceed 25 years. AIPMT has 180 objective type questions and the duration of the exam is 3 hours. Questions are from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology and each section has 45 questions.
The minimum percentage required for General category students is 50% and 40% for SC/ST/OBC category student in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in aggregate. The students must pass Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects individually.
The entrance qualifying criteria is – 50th percentile for GC, 45th percentile for GC-PH and 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC students. A candidate can attempt the entrance exam maximum three times.
