Airman Y Group Non-Technical Trades

The age required to apply for Airman Y Group is 17 years minimum and maximum is 22 years. The posts are open to unmarried Indian citizens (males only). Candidates must have passed Intermediate/ 10+2 or its equivalent examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central/State Education Boards, with at least 50% marks and 50% marks in English. The candidates are selected based on their performance in written test, physical fitness test, interview and medical examination.

Selection Procedure for Airman-

Candidates are tested in English (based on CBSE Class 12th) Reasoning and General Awareness (RGA) for all Group ‘Y’ trades. Question papers are objective and bilingual (English and Hindi). Duration of Written Test is 45 minutes.

Physical Fitness Test-

On the successful completion of written test candidates will have to undergo a Physical Fitness Test (PFT). A 1.6 Km run has to be completed within 8 minutes. Candidates are required to bring their own sports shoes.

Interview-

Candidates who clear Fitness Test are then interviewed by a team of Officers. Those who qualify the interview undergo Trade Allocation Test for bifurcation into Mechanical and Electronics stream. A medical fitness is taken after this.
