Indian Economics Services
The Union Public Service commission (UPSC) conducts Indian Economic Services Examination every year to recruit Grade IV officers to be placed in the Planning Commission, Planning Board, Ministry of Economic Affairs, National Sample Survey and other Allied Offices where Experts in Economics are required. Shortly known as IES, Indian Economic Service offers a very attractive opening with the Indian Government establishments to graduates in Economics stream.
Selected candidates are also placed in the Labor Bureau, Central Electricity Authority, Economic Advisers to various ministries, Forward Market Commission, Tariff Commission, etc. Candidates may even go on deputations to different agencies of the United Nations.
Selection of the candidates:
The selection of the candidates is based on written examination and an interview.
Part I: The written exam will be held for 1000 marks as mentioned below.
The questions will have to be answered in conventional, essay type format. The exam will be held in English medium only.
Part II: The Viva Voice of these candidates will be held for 200 marks.
General English: 100 marks
General Studies: 100 marks
General Economics – I: 200 marks
General Economics – II: 200 marks
General Economics – III: 200 marks
Indian Economics: 200 marks
