National Institute of Design
The National Institute of Design (NID) is a design school in Ahmedabad, India. The institute functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. NID is recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, as a scientific and industrial design research organization.
The institute has 3 campuses-
The heritage campus in Paldi, Ahmedabad.
The postgraduate campus in Gandhinagar to move the postgraduate courses from the heritage campus.
The R and D campus in Bangalore offering 2 IT integrated courses (Information and Interface Design, Design for Digital Experience and Design for Retail Experience).
The institute offers 2 kinds of courses-
Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD)
Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Design (PGDPD) – Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree are eligible to apply. Diploma holders from premier specialized institutions are considered on par with Bachelor’s Degree in certain cases.
