National Institute of Fashion Technology

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a fashion institute in India. It was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. NIFT has been granted statutory status under the act of Parliament of India in 2006, empowering the Institute to award degrees and other academic distinctions.

With its head office in New Delhi, NIFT has centers in Bhopal, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Kangra, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Rae Bareli, Patna, Shillong, Kannur, Bhubaneswar and Jodhpur, where it offers 4 year bachelor and 2 year master programmes in the areas of Design, Management and Technology.

The regular and full-time programs at NIFT are run at two levels namely the Graduate level and the Post Graduate level, however, NIFT has also recently launched its Ph.D. program. NIFT has an agreement for Dual Degree with Fashion Institute of Technology, with the selected students from NIFT receiving a Dual Degree from both NIFT and Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, USA. At the Masters level, NIFT offers Master of Fashion Management, Master of Design and Master of Fashion Technology.

The entrance exams for NIFT are conducted by the board for various programs in fashion like the Bachelor of design in fashion design, Bachelor of design in leather design, textile design, knitwear design, and apparel production, etc.
