Post Graduate Teacher (PGT)

Post-graduate teacher training is only available to “post-graduates” or those who have already completed a bachelor’s degree. PGT stands for the Post Graduate Teachers. These are those professional teachers that are hired by various colleges, universities and schools for higher level teaching purposes.

To be eligible for the exam-

• The candidate must be a post graduate in any discipline (science/arts/commerce).
• The candidate must be a B.Ed. Degree holder along with the post-graduate degree.
• The candidate must have a teaching experience of atleast 10 years.
• The candidate’s age must be in between 40 to 55 years.

The PGT teacher is eligible to teach the High secondary classes mainly the 11th and 12th in the following subjects-

• English
• Maths
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Biology
• Computer science
• Economics
• Accounts
• Business studies

Exam pattern-

Part 1-

General Awareness, Current Affairs, General Science, Indian Constitution, Reasoning, Teaching Aptitude, Quantative Aptitude, etc.

Part 2-

English – 20 Multiple choice questions
Hindi – 20 Multiple choice questions

Part 3-

Covers questions from candidates own subjects.
There is no negative marking in the PGT exam.
