Tolani Maritime Institute – Birla Institute of Technology and Science known as TMI-BITS have adopted a selection process (comprising of a written test followed by personality and medical test) for candidates who want to make their career in the merchant navy.
Through this test in which the candidates either have to take TMISAT or BITSAT (the BITS, Pilani Entrance Exam) are selected for admission in
1. B.Sc. Marine Engineering and
2. B.Sc. Nautical Technology
Male candidates born on or after 1st September 1992 are eligible to apply for the 2014 batch. In accordance with Government of India guidelines, there is a two year age relaxation for female candidates and girls born on or after 1st September 1990 are eligible to apply for the 2014 batch.
Both sexes are eligible for taking this exam without discrimination.
Only unmarried candidates will be considered.
Aspirants must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with
• At least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), and
• At least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII
The candidate has to meet the physical fitness standards to qualify for admission. Thus the candidates are advised to have themselves medically examined by competent doctors before applying. This will ensure they meet the minimum requirements.
Candidates for the B.S. Nautical Technology programme must have 6/6 vision in both eyes.
