Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT)

The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is a national level aptitude test conducted by XLRI (formerly known as Xavier Labour Relations Institute), a business school in Jamshedpur, India, as an entrance test for its own institute and over a 100 reputed institutes.

The XAT applicants should be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year students are also eligible for XAT, but they should be able to submit their final marks by the stipulated schedule declared by XLRI Jamshedpur or the participating B-schools.

The XAT takers are shortlisted by XLRI and other participating institutes on the basis of their XAT scores and other rounds such as GD and PI conducted by the B-schools for the final selection process.

XAT is a paper based test of 3 hours. It consists of 2 papers. Paper 1 is objective and has multiple choice questions. This part consists of three sections – Verbal Ability, Decision Making and Quantitative Aptitude. The duration of this section is 2 hours 20 minutes. Paper 2 is partly subjective and partly objective. It consists of two sections – General Awareness and Essay Writing. The General Awareness section had 30 questions. The duration of this section is 40 minutes, 20 minutes for each section.
